As a Public Safety Systems Architect for the Calgary Fire Department (CFD), you will provide technology designs and solutions to Fire & Emergency Response, Fire Inspection & Enforcement and Fire Safety Education lines of service. Your solutions will promote firefighter safety and provide incident commanders with real time intelligence to make decisions that will successfully mitigate emergencies. Primary duties include:
- Analyze new business requirements and design CFD software and hardware system architecture.
- Develop technical solutions to improve business processes.
- Manage applications, perform system administration, develop data and database modelling techniques and assist business technology coaching.
- Work with Fire Inspection and Investigations to optimize existing technology deployment and communication processes.
- Provide mission critical technology as a subject matter expert for end users.
- Develop automation scripts/framework on Automation tools/Scripting tools.
- A completed diploma and at least 7 years of related experience in system architecture design and analysis, OR;
- A degree in Information Technology or related area and at least 4 years of related experience in system architecture design and analysis.
- Knowledge of Public Safety Systems technology standards and best practices is required.
- An understanding of fire inspections and/or fire investigations is preferred.
- The following will be considered assets:
- Relational Database experience such as Microsoft SQL Server.
- Basic knowledge of scripting in Python.
- Object Oriented Programming such as C#, Java or PHP.
- An understanding of IoT devices, protocols and networking and security protocols.
- You have an interest in learning new technologies, strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to train and mentor staff.
- A security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
